In commemoration of Veterans Day, the National WWI Museum and Memorial serves as a fitting
place to honor those who have served — and continue to serve — our country.

The Museum and Memorial is hosting a variety of events in Kansas City for Veterans Day 2022. Some activities and special offers are available on Friday, November 11, while others are good through the entire Veterans Day weekend November 11-13.

WWI Museum & Memorial Admission Specials
Following Labor Day, the Museum and Memorial is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Free parking (including accessible parking) is located on the south side of the Museum and Memorial in the U-shaped drive and in the West Visitors Lot.
General admission to the Museum is FREE for Veterans and active duty military personnel from Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13, 2022.
General admission to the Museum is half price on these same dates for the public.
WWI Museum & Memorial Veterans Day Activities
The World War I Museum and Memorial kicks off a Veterans Day celebration with a moving ceremony November 11 and continues with several other events that are FREE to the public.
Veterans Day Ceremony
Date: Friday, November 11
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.
Where: National WWI Museum and Memorial Auditorium and Lobby
Join a moving ceremony honoring our nation’s veterans with a keynote address from Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Michelle D. Johnson. Mayor Quinton Lucas will deliver a special reading. Musical performances provided by the American Legion Band of Greater Kansas City. FREE to the public.
Make Your Own Poppy Craft
Date: Friday, November 11
Time: Noon to 4 p.m.
Where: National WWI Museum and Memorial, Near the Donor Wall
Poppies are a symbol of respect and remembrance for those who died in World War I. Make your own poppy craft that you can keep or give to the museum. FREE to the public.
Vietnam Era “Huey” Helicopter Display
Date: Friday, November 11 – Sunday, November 13
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
Where: National WWI Museum and Memorial U-shaped drive (outside)
An iconic Bell UH-1 Iroquois “Huey” helicopter is available for exploration courtesy of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #243. FREE to the public.
World War I Research Stations
Date: Friday, November 11 – Sunday, November 13
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
Where: National WWI Museum and Memorial, Outside Auditorium Lobby
World War I research stations give visitors access to World War I information, photographs, databases and more to discover how the Great War affected citizens at the time. FREE to the public
Active-Duty Military Letter Writing
Date: Friday, November 11 – Sunday, November 13
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
Where: National WWI Museum and Memorial, Outside Auditorium Lobby
World War I-themed stationary is provided allowing visitors to write a letter to active-duty service members. Guests can take their letter and mail them directly to a specific service member or leave them at the museum where they are distributed via A Million Thanks charity. FREE to the public.
